We believe global and intercultural learning encourages students to better understand the global dimensions of their education discipline.
ED 398/403/497 | Race, Equity & Education in the Dominican Republic
During the study abroad experience, students will learn about the history of the Dominican Republic and consider how that history has shaped public policies (especially those connected to education), 法律, and personal biases related to race and privilege. Students will also be asked to complicate their notions of race by considering race as a fluid social construct and perceptions of race as influenced by place and time. Connected to this line of inquiry, students will consider how Western and U.S. normalization of whiteness has influenced historical and contemporary perceptions of race in the Dominican Republic.

ED 412 | Reggio-inspired Teaching and Documentation of Learning
Travel to Reggio Emilia, Italy with Professor 凯茜哈特曼 to participate in a conference about Early Childhood Education. The trip will include visits to several Infant-Toddler centers named the World’s Best Early Childhood Centers by 新闻week magazine. Access to these schools is rare, but entry IS granted to international visitors who attend these conferences. Those who enroll in the three-credit course associated with this trip will attend several pre-trip meetings during the Fall semester, engage in a week-long visit to Reggio Emilia, and complete a culminating assignment upon their return to the United States.
Specific costs will be determined. The trip is open to all 博彩平台排名 students, 校友, and educators interested in Early Childhood Education.

ED 403 Workshop in Education
Experience a Multicultural Field Experience in Swedish Schools with Dr. Susan Adamson in Vallentuna, 瑞典. This experience will provide an opportunity for students to explore personal beliefs and assumptions about multicultural teaching and learning through classroom experiences in Vallentuna, 瑞典. A dog sledding excursion in the arctic circle is included.
The estimated cost is $2,995 + flight + $250 study abroad fee.
